Winchester Cathedral. The nave looking east toward the choir. Winchester is one of the largest cathedrals in England and its nave is the longest of any Gothic Cathedral in Europe. The original cathedral, dating from 1093 had a wooden ceiling. It was replaced by the present stone vaults during a remodeling project that lasted from 1367 to 1404.
